Friendswood is a nice little city in the suburbs of Houston. Over the last 19 years of living here I've enjoyed many of the qualities of living in a smaller community that is close to a thriving metropolis. The 4th of July celebration is one that the community strives to make enjoyable. The fireworks display is always wonderful and the music is really quite good. Last night the city brought in "Asleep at the Wheel" a band that I hadn't heard of until last night. My husband was a little bored up until they announced who would be playing. He was so excited because he enjoyed this band 25 years ago in Anthony, TX at a little known place that sat on the border of New Mexico and Texas. He really enjoyed the band and was so excited to be able to hear them again. They sounded wonderful. Their harmony was right on and they played quite well. I didn't know there were so many songs about Texas. It was so entertaining and a great send off for our family that won't be participating in 4th of July celebrations in Malaysia, I understand Chinese New Year is what they celebrate for a whole week.
Thanks Friendswood, you have given us many fond memories to take with us. Our family has truly enjoyed our stay.
